Wendy, a former visual designer for an internationally renowned advertising agency, first got on her yoga mat simply for the sake of exercise. With her good proprioception and regular practice, she soon perceived a transformation of her body and mind from the inside out. She was fascinated by the resilience and calmness of the practice, which made her feel more confident and brought her more creativity and inspiration, inspiring her to explore the knowledge and secrets beyond the asanas, and launching her true yoga journey and a quest to come back to herself.
In 2012, she completed the Yoga Alliance 120-hour Hot Yoga Teacher Training and 200-
hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training, and was fortunate enough to get to know Bill Arce and Lance Schuler, two brilliant teachers who showed her the discipline, humility and sincerity of a true yogi. In particular, Bill’s enthusiasm for teaching and his quest for excellence had a profound effect on her. She met Duncan Wong at a workshop and was
inspired by Yogic Arts’ unique philosophy and rigorous system, which brought a quantum leap forward in her practice and laid a solid foundation for her yoga teaching. Impressed by Bill and Duncan’s devotion to their teaching, she became committed to being an exponent of yoga, sharing the purity and wisdom that yoga brings to us.
A keen sportswoman, Wendy also fell in love with long-distance running after her encounter with yoga, and became an amateur marathon runner. The rhythmic control of breathing, the stability of the roots, the strengthening of the core, the alignment of the joints and the building of perseverance in her yoga practice are important factors in helping her to complete this difficult sport. She is therefore also keen to apply these principles in her yoga classes. Her teaching style is rigorous with a touch of humour, her instructions are clear and her sequences flow smoothly, and she is adept at observing and identifying students’ potential. She is an infectious teacher who always encourages her students to participate and try different exercises, finding “focus and awareness at the moment” in the experience far more valuable than completing a difficult asana!
